• Summary

  This session will focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion, their value, and how to incorporate them systemically into our daily work. Presenters will help attendees develop a greater understanding of DEI through diverse seminal models, as well as the levels and opportunities that could create more equitable systems, environments, experiences, and the intercultural development of all students and colleagues. Drew University has prototyped systemic strategies to enhance the inclusion and equity of its efforts. Presenters will share examples of these as well as practical steps to implement/improve the DEI of programs/processes to facilitate a more equitable developmental experience for all.

  Following this program, you will be able to:

  • Explore the definition, meaning, and value of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI);
  • Examine the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and how it relates to our daily work; and
  • Enhance the DEI of your work on five systemic levels.

  Jenn Islam , Launch Catalyst, Immersive Learning Coordinator, [ARCHIVES]

  Jenn Islam works at Drew University as the Launch Catalyst, Immersive Learning coordinator. She oversees the internship registration process, the facilitation and management of the required first-year career readiness course, and general career advising and workshop presentations. She has a passion for working with and for marginalized communities and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. She earned her M.S. in students affairs in higher education from Miami University of Ohio, and her B.A. in sociology and women's studies from Stony Brook University.

  

  Daniel Pascoe-Aguilar PhD , CDO & Founding Director, Center for Social Justice, Excelsior University

  Daniel Pascoe Aguilar, Ph.D., is passionate about working with communities on the development of a diverse, purpose driven, interculturally developed and systemic-challenge-ready next generation of leaders. He is associate provost for Immersive Learning & Career Design at DU, where he co-leads Launch, a new approach to undergraduate education focused on students’ purpose development, career preparation, and community/world impact. As his fifth career, he has led career services at Ithaca College, University of Oregon, Seattle University, University of North Texas, and Indiana University. He has earned a Ph.D. and an M.S. in education from Indiana University, a Master of Divinity from Palmer Theological Seminary, and a B.A. in industrial design from Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana in México.
