  You have the power to effect change for yourself, your colleagues, your organizations, and for the students you serve or recruit. NACE’s Game Changers Series, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, shines a light on game changers who share their personal stories and serve as models for working to bring about positive change.

  What can you do to bring about positive change? Join Lynette Correa-Velez, Luis Amaro, and Doris Alcivar—co-leads of NACE’s Hispanic-Serving Institutions Affinity Group—as they detail their stories, support of the association’s mission, and thoughts on becoming game changers. The interviewees will also share their personal game-changing experiences and what those have meant for their professional and personal selves.

  Luis Amaro , Senior Manager Growth Strategy US, Wiley Edge

  Luis Amara is a senior manager of business development at Wiley Edge. He has helped hundreds of students network with Fortune 500 companies accessing jobs they would not have had access to previously. His career in graduate recruitment spans 13+ years during which he has successfully launched graduate talent teams across multiple global organizations. In recent years, he has built Wiley Edge's University Partnerships global team, leveraging his experience to help universities give students the tools they need to access careers in technology. His extensive background in sales enables him to share insights with students about the skills businesses are seeking in emerging talent. Born in the United States to a Colombian mother and Dominican father, he’s a first-generation Hispanic college graduate. His passion for helping underserved communities gain equal access to opportunities has led him to volunteer his time toward supporting students and faculty at Historically Black Colleges & Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutes, and Tribal Colleges and Universities.

  

  Doris Alcivar Ed.D , Senior Associate Director, Employer Relations, [ARCHIVES]

  Doris Alcivar, Ed.D., is an assistant director of employer relations at the University of Central Florida, Career Services. Originally from New Jersey, she is a bilingual, first-generation college graduate who has spent 15+ years working in higher education.  Before joining UCF, Alcivar held a variety of positions at New York University and Passaic County Community College. She holds a B.A. in marketing from Rutgers University, an M.A. in higher education administration from NYU Steinhardt, and an Ed.D. in educational leadership from UCF. She holds memberships with Florida ACE, SoACE, and NACE and currently leads the SoACE Employer Knowledge group.

  

  Kacheyta McClellan , Director of Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, NACE

  Kacheyta earned a B.S. in Management and an M.B.A. in Human Resources from the University of Southern Indiana. Diversity & Inclusion as well as Career Development comprise 15 plus years of his experience in Higher Education and Associations. As a strategy architect, Kacheyta has developed successful conferences, retention initiatives, assessment tools, and diversity metrics that have earned him honors such as one of the Evansville Business Journal’s 20 under 40 Emerging Leaders and Leadership Evansville’s Individual Leadership Award recipient. He has also succeeded in developing partnerships with employers that have turned in to a variety of opportunities for students including internships, job shadowing, job placement, and more. Kacheyta has served on dozens of boards and committees that are community-focused with special attention reserved for people of color. In his current role as Director of Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging for the National Association of Colleges and Employers, Kacheyta focuses efforts to advance the association and profession through a DEI lens. In addition to evaluating internal practices and analyzing all aspects of the association, Kacheyta also works with professionals throughout the nation to identify, investigate, and promote actions that move individuals and employers to be more inclusive. Some of his professional affiliations are with Career Development Professionals of Indiana (CDPI), National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE), NASPA Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, Kappa Beta Delta International Honors Society (Honorary), Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honors Society, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated (Life Member).

  

  Lynette Correa-Velez , Director of Tech Launchpad, City Colleges of Chicago

  Lynette Correa-Velez, M.Ed., is the director of career services at Joliet Junior College (JJC) located in Joliet, IL. She is a trained, DEIAB-centered career coach with more than 17 years of professional experience. Correa-Velez is also doctoral student in the Diversity and Equity in Education with an emphasis in Human Resource Development program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) as a first-generation high school and college graduate. She is an active member of many professional associations, including NACE. She has more than 15 awards and honors in recognition for her passion for career coaching for all.
