• Summary

  How can career support be reimagined during COVID-19? Every aspect of the career services profession has been transformed—creating challenging job and internship markets, triggering the increased scrutiny of higher education ROI, and fundamentally changing the world of work with abrupt pivots to mostly or fully virtual career services. While this transformation has inevitably been challenging, it also brings with it an opportunity to innovate and reimagine the way we work. Join career coaches Katharine Marianacci and Alison Erk from Lehigh University to learn how to leverage content creation and collaboration to address the current trends impacting career services and pave the path for a more strategic and inclusive future.

  Following this program, you will be able to:

  • Participants will understand the major trends and challenges influencing career services during the time of COVID-19;
  • Participants will identify strategies to develop career content that increases the visibility, accessibility, and relevance of career support; and
  • Participants will recognize how to leverage partnerships with employers, alumni, and the campus community to expand the influence of the career center.

  Katharine Marianacci , Associate Director, [ARCHIVES]

  Katharine Marianacci is the associate director and engineering career coach at Lehigh University’s Center for Career & Professional Development, where she serves as the career liaison to 1,800+ undergraduate engineering students. She manages large-scale programming, provides one-on-one career coaching, and builds strategic partnerships to maximize students’ career readiness and integrate career development into the Lehigh experience. She holds a B.A. in psychology from Wilkes University and a M.Ed. in counseling psychology from Lehigh University.

  

  Alison Erk , Graduate Student Career Development, Lehigh University

  Alison Erk is the associate director of graduate student career development at Lehigh University’s Center for Career & Professional Development. She manages career support for 1,500+ graduate students in 60+ academic programs. In this role, she leverages her experience with developing scalable programs and fostering strong working relationships with diverse audiences. She provides individualized career coaching, collaborative programming, and customized resources to build skills and connections for career success. She received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Lehigh University.

  

  Karen Kuczynski , Director, Career Education, [ARCHIVES]

  Karen Kuczynski has been invigorated by the field of career services since 2002 and is currently the director of career education within Lehigh’s Center for Career & Professional Development. She leads the department’s strategy for career education and collaborates with university leaders, alumni, volunteers, and employer partners to create and deliver innovative programs and career education. She has contributed to the implementation of technology platforms such as Handshake and PeopleGrove. She received a bachelor's in psychology from West Chester University and a masters in counseling psychology from Rosemont College. She is inspired every day by the career coaching team she leads at Lehigh.
