    Spotlight for Career Services Professionals

The more often students visited career services, the more likely they were to do so online instead of going to the campus office, according to results of NACE’s 2018 Student Survey Report.

This pattern held across all classes. Students who visited career services once or twice per year were more likely to do so by going to the career services office on campus. (See Figure 1.) However, students who used career services more frequently than that were decidedly more likely to use the office’s online resources.

For example, in the case of sophomores, nearly 22 percent visited the campus career services office once during the academic year, while nearly 18 percent visited the career services website once. As the frequency of visits grew, so did the percentage of students who used online resources: 13 percent of sophomores visited the campus office two or three times per semester, while 21 percent visited the career services website with the same frequency.

The 2018 Student Survey Report details the attitudes, behaviors, and outcomes for bachelor’s degree students at all class levels. (Note: Previous reports provided data only on graduating seniors.) The focus of this report is the 22,109 bachelor’s degree students from the 2017-18 academic school year (July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018). Breakdowns by class level are as follows: 4,336 freshmen, 4,174 sophomores, 5,709 juniors, and 7,890 graduating seniors. Data collection took place from February 14, 2018, to April 30, 2018. The 2018 Student Survey Report will be released this fall.
