2024 Conference Planning Committee

Committee Description:
There’s a quote ‘Opportunities don’t happen, you create them’. Well, we agree! And that’s exactly what we’ll do with your help. Help us to create opportunities for engagement, for networking, for learning and for fun for all conference attendees!
Goals:
The Committee will work to ensure outcomes in support of the NACE Strategic Plan with a focus on the following goals: 1. Increase and retain a diversified membership and create opportunities to engage and build professional networks 2. Advance the body of knowledge, set standards, and cultivate professional acumen.
Committee Charge(s):
The Conference Planning Committee will work with NACE staff to provide feedback on and to create inclusive, diverse, and member-engaging experiences with a focus on providing value to members at all levels at NACE’s most widely attended educational event.
Timeframe:
7/1/2023 to 6/30/2024
• Committee kicks off in early-to-mid August to determine regular meeting cadence. • Plan to actively participate in regular monthly conference calls from August 2023 – June 2024, with potential opportunity to meet in-person (for local area/Phoenix committee members). • To be assigned to review 40-60 conference session proposals (per volunteer). • Participate in sub-committee meetings as needed.
Deliverables Expected:
• Collaboration across team to: o Review and make recommendations about conference program tracks and program formats. o Evaluate and rate workshop proposals for both the in-person and virtual conferences, ensuring inclusive, diverse and equitable learning outcomes and presenter selection. o Be social media champions; help to build ‘hype’ pre-conference and increase attendee registrations, as well as generate high engagement during conference. o Work with staff to deliver an advanced orientation/what to expect virtual session for all conference attendees to get them excited. o Deliver a first-timers session to ensure that new conference attendees achieve their goals in attending the conference. o Leverage NACE Staff Advisor to understand previous conference feedback and relevant areas of interest for members, and incorporate into ideation and event construct. o Identify and leverage local members, as well as non-members, to host ‘Site Visits’. o Provide staff with ideas, connections, and feedback for incorporating local talent, entertainment, and theming into the conference experience. o Help to coordinate volunteers that can help throughout the conference experience.
Skills Required:
• Social media / marketing experience and or ideas that can be brought to life! • Expertise, desire, and ability to provide constructive feedback on conference session proposals. • Knowledge of Phoenix area would be helpful but not a requirement; and willingness to engage in outreach activities. • Ability to bring creativity and fun to event and activity planning. • Commitment to attend the NACE24 Conference in Phoenix and virtual conference. NACE will provide discounted registration.
