Sourcing and Nomination Committee

Committee Description:
The Sourcing and Nomination Committee implements the sourcing, nominations, and elections process for the annual election of the Board of Directors and Officers. According to NACE Bylaws, the Committee consists of the Past-President who serves as Chair; two (2) NACE members who are serving or have previously served on the NACE Board of Directors; and up to three (3) NACE members at large. Appointees of this committee reflect the diversity of the membership and the association's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as a core value.
Goals:
Alignment to NACE Strategic Plan Goals: The Committee will work to ensure outcomes in support of the NACE Strategic Plan with a focus on the following goals: 1. Increase and retain a diversified membership and create opportunities to engage and build professional networks. 2. Advance the body of knowledge, set standards, and cultivate professional acumen. 3. Serve as the leading source of research, data, and content.
Committee Charge(s):
Identify the next generation of leaders for our association and keep our pipeline strong! The Sourcing and Nomination Committee implements the sourcing, nominations, and elections process for the annual election of the Board of Directors and Officers. According to NACE Bylaws, the Committee consists of the Past-President who serves as Chair; two (2) NACE members who are serving or have previously served on the NACE Board of Directors; and up to three (3) NACE members at large. Appointees of this committee reflect the diversity of the membership and the association's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as a core value. The Committee oversees the nomination and election process for the 2024-2025 Board election, ensuring a fair & equitable process aligned to NACE’s DEI commitments. The Committee also communicates with members regarding future leadership needs and implements the sourcing of potential board leaders among the membership. Evaluate and enhance director qualifications, considering desired qualifications and traits needed for board service.
Timeframe:
7/1/2023 to 6/30/2024
• July 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023 o Call for Nominations in August–October o Facilitate intentional outreach to source potential board leaders in August-September o Finalize the recommended ballot no later than December 1, 2023 • Participate in conference calls throughout the year
Deliverables Expected:
Collaboration across team to: o Identify and coordinate sourcing strategies with a strong focus on all aspects of diversity, equity and inclusion to encourage greater member engagement. o Oversee the Call for Nominations advertising and application/screening processes to the NACE membership. o Oversee communications informing members about Association leadership. o Review submissions considering eligibility requirements, minimum qualifications, leadership competencies, and NACE’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. o Create and forward a leadership ballot to the Board for approval to send to the membership for voting. o Provide feedback to the President-Elect of candidates who may not have been selected for board duty but who may merit consideration for other NACE volunteer roles.
Skills Required:
• Ability to fairly assess member nominations, as well as directly source potential leaders who can ensure NACE’s balanced board representation.
