The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) has once again reduced the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) benchmark.

The new benchmark—5.9 percent—will be in effect for affirmative action plans that are updated after March 31, 2019, according to Jackson Lewis LLP.

OFCCP determines the benchmark based on the annual national percentage of veterans in the civilian labor force. It represents the percentage of veteran hires that contractors should aspire to make each year as required by the 2013 revisions to the VEVRAA Regulations, Jackson Lewis notes.

The benchmark was originally set at 7.2 percent in March 2014, and has been reduced each year since.
