Are bare legs considered a no-no at job interviews? That’s the question career services practitioners recently discussed in the NACE Community.
They pointed out that some companies still have a dress code that requires hose, and that employers in the accounting and finance industries have conservative environments where most recruiters prefer hose.
They also recommend that skirts should be knee length, not too tight, and worn with conservative shoes.
In the dead of winter, however, they suggest interviewees wear tights.
One practitioner relayed feedback from a recruiter who said, “Unless [a student is] interviewing for a position as a beach volleyball coach, we expect women to wear hose.”
Four others suggested that pantsuits would solve the problem.
