The average number of full-time university relations and recruiting staff members that organizations employ decreased to 13.5 in NACE’s 2018 Recruiting Benchmarks Survey Report from 14.3 in last year’s report.

It stands to reason that larger companies—those with 5,001 to more than 20,000 employees—had larger staff sizes. Meanwhile, the staff sizes of smaller companies varied. (See Figure 1.)

In the latest report, staff composition consisted of mostly recruiters (an average of 8.1 per responding organization), followed by coordinators (3.3), managers (3.0), and directors (2.2).

The average number of staff members for employers with a hybrid structure was 14.3, whereas, for centralized operations, it was 13.2. Departments in which URR is a component of human resources had an average of 14.7 full-time staff members. (See Figure 2.)

Data collection for NACE’s 2018 Recruiting Benchmarks Survey Report took place from June 20, 2018, to September 10, 2018; 218 firms participated.
