    • Summary

      Among the many changes that the COVID-19 pandemic has initiated, the world of work and higher education are two that have experienced drastic and long-term changes. With the unemployment rate hovering around 3.9% (December 2021 Bureau of Labor Statistics, accessed 1/12/2021), it is now time to create a more equitable lens for candidate recruitment and a focused effort to increase student/alumni career mobility in every hiring decision.

      In this new normal, individuals working in employer relations roles in higher education and employers needing to recruit diverse students and alumni have a unique opportunity to create mutually beneficial relationships especially with faculty/staff partners. Building these equity-centered partnerships may start with online job postings and career fairs but must progress toward inclusive conversations around employer needs and student/alumni potential with awareness and advocacy around student/alumni barriers to employment.

      This webinar will discuss specific action-oriented practices that move the conversation forward between career services centers and employers to creating a just, inclusive, and upwardly mobile society for every student/alumni.

      Following this program, you will be able to:

      • Identify internal and external partners, and create systems to increase buy-in for student support and advocacy;
      • Develop varied career-related opportunities with external partners to support student learning and increase employer recruitment efforts; and
      • Begin hosting “micro-career fairs” to highlight employer partners to targeted student groups.
