  Join NACE to get insight into what the internship landscape looks like for summer and fall 2021. Will internships be in person, virtual, or a blend of both? Dive into what went right—and wrong—with the internships held virtually during summer 2020 as a result of the pandemic, and tap into the lessons learned. Find out how employers leveraged candidate experience strategies to create meaningful internship experiences to attract future talent and realize effective conversion rates. In addition, we’ll examine how employers can advance equitable outcomes for marginalized students to ensure inclusivity in internships—a major pathway to full-time career positions. Leveraging learnings from the past 12 months, the Town Hall features subject matter experts who will share the way forward.

  Following this program, you will be able to:

  • Design and leverage virtual internships with on- and off-campus stakeholders, including employers/alumni;
  • Craft and execute a virtual internship that is meaningful for the student and the employer; and
  • Measure and implement work completed through a virtual internship.

  Wayne Hampton , Senior Manager, Disney Campus Recruitment

  Wayne Hampton graduated from Auburn University with a degree in mass communications and worked for a media company in Burbank, California, for three years upon graduation. After that, Hampton began his career with the Walt Disney Company 30 years ago, first working in operations (all four Florida theme parks and four of the Florida resorts) and then in recruiting, both domestically and internationally. Currently, Hampton is part of Disney Campus Recruitment, and his direct reports recruit students for internships within Walt Disney Parks and Resorts as well as corporate. His involvement with NACE includes serving as a conference speaker, member of various committees (Conference Committee, Honors & Awards Committee, Research Advisory Committee), and task force member (Member Value Proposition). He is also active with SoACE (Board Member: Director Employers, President-Elect, President, Past-President; SoACE Committee Member: Local Arrangements Committee for the Annual Conference, Scholarship Committee, Conference Co-Chair; SoACE Conference Speaker) and Tennessee ACE (Board Member: Awards, TACE President, TACE Past-President, Conference Speaker).

  

  Hosetta Coleman SPHR , Careers and Skills Professional Team Lead, JPMorgan Chase

  Hosetta Belcher Coleman is a Senior Vice President at Fifth Third Bank. Her experience spans over 25 years in financial services. She currently leads the University Relations division at Fifth Third bank. Ms. Coleman’s work experience also includes Allstate Insurance and roles in the nonprofit sector. Currently, she is involved with the Society for Human Resource Management and serves on the Florida A&M University Foundation Board of Directors. In addition, she is a member of Tennessee State University’s Career Development Advisor Board and College of Business Advisory Board. Hosetta received her BS in Business Administration from Tuskegee University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. She is also a certified coach and advocate for lifelong learning. She also holds her SPHR and SHRM-CP certifications in Human Resources.

  

  Caroline Cunningham , Early Talent Leader, Caroline Cunningham

  Caroline Cunningham is currently the Global Director of University Talent Acquisition and Programs at Workday where she has been for the last year. Prior to coming to Workday, she held several leadership positions in University Talent Acquisition and Programs, Diversity and Experienced Hiring for companies including Intuit, GE Digital, Chevron and Johnson & Johnson. Over the past 20 + years she has helped teams to hire thousands of interns and new college graduates and has built and scaled multiple related programs. Caroline is an active member of NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) and is currently serving her second two-year term on the board of directors as the VP of Employers. Over the past thirteen years as a member of NACE, she has participated on and led numerous committees and spoken at multiple conferences and events. She has presented at several other national and regional conferences and events on a variety of topics related to recruiting, diversity and talent acquisition. She holds a bachelor's degree in theater arts from Occidental College. Caroline lives in Danville, CA with her husband Rob and daughters Morgan (18), Kendall (16) and her Aussie Doodle Bondi (2).

  

  Shawn VanDerziel , President & Chief Executive Officer, NACE

  As president and chief executive officer of the National Association of Colleges and Employers, Shawn VanDerziel leads the association of 16,000 college career services professionals, university relations and recruiting professionals, and business solution providers that serve the community. As a leading voice on the employment of the college educated and advocate for equitable outcomes for all students, VanDerziel is featured regularly as an industry expert and is a sought-after speaker on a range of topics, including internships, hiring, career readiness, and trends in the workforce and college job market. Prior to joining the NACE staff, VanDerziel was with the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago for 23 years, where he most recently served as chief human resources officer and as chief of staff. His earlier roles included corporate recruiting with Norrell Corporation and a position in higher education as associate director of student enrollment at National Louis University.
