• Summary

  On August 12, 2020, NACE took part in the Racial Justice Day of Action with others in the student affairs community. NACE leadership—including Shawn VanDerziel, NACE executive director, Jennifer Lasater, president of the NACE Board, and Brian Guerrero, vice president - college on the Board—discussed "Racial Justice in Career Services," detailing NACE's support of the Black community and the association's plan and commitments.

  Jennifer Lasater , Vice President, Student and Career Advancement, Purdue University Global

  

  Brian Guerrero , Associate Vice President C2 Hub (Interim), Metropolitan State University of Denver - C2Hub

  Dr. Brian Guerrero serves as President of the 2022-23 NACE Board of Directors. Dr. Guerrero is chief of staff in the Office of the Provost at Ohio State University. Previously, he was assistant dean for Ohio State’s Center for Career and Professional Success. Dr. Guerrero also served as senior associate director of the career center at the University of California, Berkeley, as well as deputy director of student affairs administration at UCLA. Outside of his roles within the University of California system, Dr. Guerrero worked in various career services at New York University (NYU), at both the New York City campus and in Abu Dhabi.

  

  Shawn VanDerziel , President & Chief Executive Officer, NACE

  As president and chief executive officer of the National Association of Colleges and Employers, Shawn VanDerziel leads the association of 16,000 college career services professionals, university relations and recruiting professionals, and business solution providers that serve the community. As a leading voice on the employment of the college educated and advocate for equitable outcomes for all students, VanDerziel is featured regularly as an industry expert and is a sought-after speaker on a range of topics, including internships, hiring, career readiness, and trends in the workforce and college job market. Prior to joining the NACE staff, VanDerziel was with the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago for 23 years, where he most recently served as chief human resources officer and as chief of staff. His earlier roles included corporate recruiting with Norrell Corporation and a position in higher education as associate director of student enrollment at National Louis University.
