The H-1B work visa is the most common work visa for international graduates of U.S. universities. However, the H-1B is subject to limited annual quotas. In prior years, employers seeking H-1B work visas for university grads needed to prepare and file a full H-1B petition on April 1 (the first day filings would be accepted by the government). Currently, the government is implementing a new "pre-registration" process. This session will explain the new pre-registration process, including costs and timing of the process. This session will be valuable for employers as well as career services offices at universities.
Following this program, you will be able to:
- Identify the important deadlines for filing H-1B petitions;
- Explore strategies for being better prepared to interact with employers that recruit on university campuses; and
- Learn ways to advise international students who wish to work in the United States after graduation.
